MARTIN NYTRA DOMINATED THE INITIAL RACE OF THE INOV-8 CROSS CUP SERIES IN THE BRDY

A successful start of the 2019 season!
Just like a year ago, I chose the first race of the Inov-8 Cross Cup, the Brdy Cross to get into the running routine. This time, however, it was the shorter trail - 11 km with the positive elevation of 440 m.
I had planned to run behind the others to the first hill and then start running at full speed. However, I got in the lead right in the first metres after the start and I stayed there for the rest of the race. When I had reached the 2nd kilometre, I did not see anybody behind, so I could keep my pace. The trail was absolutely stunning so I tried to enjoy it as much as possible!
I finished first in less than 47 minutes. And as they say, "All's well that ends well," this was not my case this time. As we were taking the final photo on the winners' podium, the podium collapsed and I ended on top of it (I guess we were celebrating too much). I thus brought home not only the medal but also cut back and a bruise or two.
I, therefore, hope I have trained properly for the winners' podium and I will fight for another nice result. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
